RC Helicopter Buyers Guide

When your looking for an RC Helicopter it is very important to consider the after sales support, such as the availably of spare parts and technical support.

Here at RcMods we keep large stocks of spare parts and try to keep all parts in stock at all times. We also provide one of the best after sales support programs in the model industry.

There are many ways to get in to the hobby, for example some people start with a basic 4 channel indoor model which is very stable and allows you to learn the basics and then progress to 6 channel models. Whereas some people like a bigger challenge and jump straight in with the more powerful advanced 6 channel models. This guide should help you decide the best route for yourself.
Easy to Fly Beginners Indoor Models

The E-FLY EF136 is the best value beginners RC Helicopter available on the market today. It’s small enough to fly around the smallest spaces and its twin (coaxial) rotor design makes flying very easy. Don’t think these models are toys, they are fully controllable in all directions and all the spare parts are available. Just watch the video of this model (on the product page) in our shop to see how good they really are!
Easy/Intermediate Beginners Indoor Models

The E-FLY mSP190 is another fantastic RC Helicopter from E-FLY. Its a great step up from the EF136 or ideal if you want to start with a more challenging model. Watch the video of this helicopter on our product page to see how well it really fly's. This helicopter is fully controllable in all directions and all spare parts are available.
Beginners Outdoor Models

If you would like beginners RC Helicopter which is designed primarily for outdoor use then the ESKY Honeybee V2 is the best model for you. This model is slightly more challenging than the above indoor models but still is very stable and features a strong durable plastic rotor head. The fixed pitch rotor blade setup means there is very little in the way of setup and the model is ideal for learning all the basics of flying such as hovering, turning circuits etc.
Intermediate Outdoor Models

If you are looking for a more challenging model or are moving up from a coaxial or fixed pitch model then you won’t find a better model than the E-SKY Honeybee CP3. This model features a collective pitch rotor system allowing more responsive control than the fixed pitch models. This extra sensitivity makes it more of a challenge for the beginner - but with a training kit and a steady hand it can be mastered. If you have already developed your skills on a fixed pitch or coaxial you will have a much easier time learning to flying this model, of course the main advantage of the CP3 is the greater performance and potential for full aerobatic flight.
Intermediate/Advanced Outdoor Models

A further step up from the CP3 is the KDS 450S. This model is much larger and the extra weight means they are generally more stable in a breeze. This helicopter is fitted with a brushless motor; brushless speed controller and head lock gyro as standard and they are able to out-perform more expensive models in their class. Just like the E-SKY Honeybee CP3 this model is more challenging for beginners but with a training stand and plenty of patience you will be able to master it.
