About RC Mods

Where RC Mods came from

RC Mods Ltd was a UK radio control business founded by Paul Walsh in 2007. It sold RC helicopters, planes and cars, along with thousands of spare parts and upgrades, and repaired models that customers sent in. Through the late 2000s it was one of the places UK hobbyists went for E-Sky, Align and Walkera helicopter parts, at a time when those were the models almost everyone was learning on.

The shop closed in 2012. The domain stayed with its founder the whole time.

Why the site is back

The questions haven't changed: which helicopter should I buy, why does it spin, how do I charge a LiPo safely, where can I fly. What has changed is the quality of the answers. Search for them today and much of what you find is written for the US market, repeats manufacturer marketing, or was produced by people who've never repaired a model.

RC Mods is back as a free, independent reference: written for UK readers, with UK prices, UK rules and UK spares, and grounded in years of selling, setting up and fixing these models.

How we stay independent

  • We're not affiliated with any brand. No manufacturer pays for coverage or sees a page before it's published.
  • We say how picks were chosen. Where we recommend a model, the page states whether that's from hands-on use or from specification and owner reports. We don't invent tests, star ratings or reviews.
  • Spares come first. We only recommend models whose parts you can buy in the UK.
  • Affiliate links never decide a pick. Some links may earn a small commission in future, explained in our affiliate disclosure. The site sets no cookies (see cookies) and collects very little, as our privacy policy explains. If the best option has no affiliate link, it's still the pick.
  • Facts are sourced. Rules, safety advice and specifications link to the CAA, BMFA, Ofcom or the manufacturer, and pages show when they were last checked.
