About Paul

Paul Walsh founded RC Mods in 2007 and ran it until 2012, selling, setting up and repairing radio-controlled helicopters, planes and cars for UK customers. He's based in Lancashire and has been repairing electronics for more than 25 years.

Background

  • RC Mods Ltd (2007 to 2012). A UK radio control shop and repair service, best known for helicopter parts for E-Sky, Align and Walkera models.
  • Get it Repaired (2013 to 2015). A mobile phone and tablet repair company, built up and sold.
  • WeBuyTek (2015 to 2024). A mobile phone trade-in business, built up and sold.
  • The Repair Works. Paul's current electronics repair service, at therepairworks.co.uk.

That mix of retail, repair and electronics shapes how these guides are written: what fails, why, and what's actually worth buying.

How Paul checks what he recommends

  • Recommendations name their basis: hands-on experience, or specification and owner reports.
  • Rules and safety facts link to primary sources, such as the CAA, BMFA and manufacturers' manuals.
  • Prices are UK prices, with the date they were checked.
  • Every page shows when it was last reviewed.
