Best indoor RC helicopters

Indoor helicopters need to be small, light and stable. Small so they fit the space, light so a bump into a sofa doesn't break anything (including the sofa), and stable so you're not chasing the helicopter round the room.
How these picks were chosen. Based on specification, manufacturer features, UK parts availability and owner reports; not every model has been tested by RC Mods. Prices from UK retailers, October 2026.
Our picks
Pick 1
Blade Revolution 90 FP RTF

RC ERA C186 BO105

The picks
| Helicopter | Type | Approx. UK price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Syma S107H / S107H-E | Toy coaxial, altitude hold | check retailer | A cheap gift for small rooms |
| Blade Revolution 90 FP | Fixed pitch micro, SAFE | £117 | Learning single-rotor flying at home |
| RC ERA C186 BO105 | Stabilised scale, altitude hold | £80 | Realistic looks, easy flying |
| Blade Nano S3 | Collective pitch micro | £135 BNF | Sports halls and aerobatics practice |
Living room
Syma S107H. The radio version of the famous S107, with barometric altitude hold. Coaxial helicopters are the most stable of all and need almost no skill to hover. It's a toy, and it only goes up and down, turns and moves forward and back, but for a small room it's hard to beat. See Syma for the range.
Blade Revolution 90 FP. A proper single-rotor helicopter, small enough for a large living room, with self-levelling and optional altitude hold. A good choice if you want to learn skills you can take outside later.
RC ERA C186 BO105. A small scale helicopter with altitude hold, around 15 minutes per battery, and a realistic look. The 256mm rotor needs a decent-sized room.
Sports hall
Blade Nano S3. A collective pitch micro that weighs about 32g with its battery. In a hall you can practise forward flight, circuits and even simple aerobatics in any weather. Many clubs run winter indoor sessions in sports halls; see joining an RC club. It comes as BNF (no transmitter): you need a Spektrum DSMX transmitter to fly it, or the RTF version, which includes one.
How to choose for your space
- Under 3 x 3 metres clear: a toy coaxial only.
- A large living room or conservatory: a micro fixed pitch or small scale model.
- A hall: micro collective pitch.
Make the space safe before you start: our guide to flying RC helicopters indoors covers clearing the room, ceiling fans, pets and lights.
Indoor-specific things to check
- Weight. Lighter means less damage. Most good indoor models are under 50g.
- Altitude hold. Stops the helicopter climbing into the ceiling.
- Blade guards or flexible blades on toys for children.
- Spares. Even indoor helicopters break blades.

Frequently asked questions
How much space do I need to fly an RC helicopter indoors?
A clear area of about 3 by 3 metres is enough for a toy coaxial. A micro single-rotor helicopter is happier with a large living room or conservatory, and collective pitch micros really need a hall.
Are indoor RC helicopters safe around children and pets?
Small, light models are low risk, but spinning blades can still catch fingers and hair. Fly with a clear space around the helicopter and keep pets out of the room.
Can indoor helicopters fly outside?
Only on a completely still day. Small, light helicopters are blown about by the slightest breeze.
